Home Security Signs - What They Are, How To Use Them
By Paul Atredki
Installing home security not only creates a sense of safety, it is a smart investment for your home, as well. In fact, the number of burglaries and break-ins greatly decreases with homes that have home security over those that do not have any form of home security installed for their home. Some people feel, however, that even with the many options for home security to choose from, the cost is still too expensive. In addition to cost, for those that rent their home, installing a home security system may require specific structural modifications that may not be allowed by the landlord. For homeowners and renters that find themselves worried about the cost of home security, there are solutions that are less expensive: home security signs and stickers.
There are many forms of home security signs and stickers, and chances are, a sign on your door that reads, "Beware of Dog," may be just enough to deter them from choosing to burglarize your home. But, there are those criminals that "do their homework"; they have studied your home, your patterns, and your surroundings prior to the break-in and know that there is, in fact, no dog at all.
For a home security sign to be more effective, it should be specific in nature; stating that the home is being monitored and protected by a particular security system. Having a home security sign that reads, "Protected by ADT," is an example of this.
Usually, you will need to install the actual security system
in order to be provided with these signs; however, there are other options for
home security signs that can be installed by the homeowner to have that added
sense of protection. With supplies from your local hardware or home improvement
store and some computer-generated graphics, you can easily create a DIY home
security sign to post in your yard.
Another option to consider is the home security sticker, which is similar, in nature, to the home security sign. The overall function of the home security sticker is the same as the home security sign; the goal is deter a burglar or intruder from attempting to enter your home. While there are some individual stickers available, similar to the home security sign, most home security stickers are provided with the installation of an actual home security system. Since most are visible from the street, you can see that there is an additional benefit to having home security signs and stickers.
It is important not to overlook less expensive items, such as home security signs and stickers, when considering what home security solution will best protect your family and your valuables. And, while there are many options available, home security signs and stickers can play a major role in keeping burglars and intruders away from your home.
