Here’s a home security comparison scenario for you, a home security device VS a pet dog.   Which one is better?  Now granted it depends on the kind of dog, if you have a little chiwawa that’s not going to do much to deter a burglar, however if you have a good medium sized dog, then you have something that’s worth talking about.

Now most people would say given this home security comparison that a home security service is the way to go, but I beg to differ.  You see, you can have the most expensive home security device, with all the bells and whistles, however there are times when a burglar will not care if the alarm goes off because they know they can get in, get what they need and get out before the cops arrive.

The home security monitoring system is a passive solution, it is meant to only intimidate.  Sure it will alert the police, but often times the police will not respond in time.

So why then am I saying go with the dog?  Well, a dog is more of an active threat in the house.  If a burglar hears the alarm is tripped, he may continue to burglar the house if he feels he can get away with it, however with a dog in the house ready to attack him, he will be much more hesitant.

So now you may see why in this home security comparison scenario, I would give the edge to the dog. A burglar is going to think twice about hanging around inside of a house if a medium sized dog is barking at him, his physical safety is immediately put into question.

A dog is faster than a human, has keener senses and there’s a reason why they are used as security for certain buildings. Guard dogs are effective, even if your dog is not a trained guard dog, he or she will nevertheless effectively be able to deter a potential burglar. Of course if you can get yourself both a dog and a home security service that would be the optimal solution.

SO as far as this home security comparison is concerned, I would say keeping a medium to large sized dog in the house has a clear advantage due simply to the fact that it’s going to play more with the burglar’s mind, psychologically, especially if he didn’t expect to find a dog once in the house.

And if a burglar is in the house, you can bet your dog with their keen senses will notice.

Now if you’re looking for a home security monitoring system nonetheless, not to worry, there are plenty of systems which can be ordered through the Internet! It’s also a great place to compare and contrast different systems, so have a look around if you don’t have a dog!
